Mrs. Irene West Chambless, 80, of Savannah died Tuesday May 3, 2006.
She was born in Savannah on May 28, 1926, the daughter of Urban I. and Gladys P. West. She was a Graduate of Sylvania High School, Class of 1943. She was married to Martin Chambless and traveled over much of the world while Martin was serving as a pilot in the United States Air Force. They celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on March 20th of this year. She was a member of White Bluff United Methodist Church, Exchangettes, Military Officers Association, Alee Temple Shrine Club and Garden Club of Savannah.
She is survived by her husband Martin; four sons, Martin, Jr. of Denver, David of Atlanta, Richard and Michael both of Savannah; six grandsons; one granddaughter; one great-grandson and three great-granddaughters.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday May 8, 2006 at Screven County Memorial Cemetery on East Bulloch Street in Sylvania, GA.
